About California Oaks Sports Park
California Oaks Sports Park is a 20-acre city-operated recreation facility in the California Oaks neighborhood of Murrieta, built out with sports fields, courts, and a skate park for residents of all ages.
History and Significance: The park community pool, built in 1990, served the neighborhood for more than three decades before the City Council voted to permanently close it in 2023 due to age-related mechanical issues. The city has partnered with Murrieta Valley Unified School District to offer aquatics programs at the nearby Vista Murrieta High School pool in the meantime, while a rebuilt aquatics facility is planned for the same site.
